Valette, a specialist in leadership, millennial culture and finance as well as the first Dominican woman to be named CEO of an international financial institution, presented in front of more than 60 guests.

The event began with the projection of the GFDD institutional video. The Director of GFDD’s New York office, Yamile Eusebio was present and discussed the organization’s role in creating spaces where Dominicans and Hispanics interact with Dominican experts concerning topics on personal and professional growth.

The director of the Northeast Connecticut Latina Women Association, Mrs. Maria González, also spoke, offering some welcoming remarks. She explained the role of her organization in working with and supporting Latina women to create a stronger Latina community in Connecticut.

The presentation by Valette was then delivered. The focus was on the changing landscape of the global economy and the qualities required to lead. Technological changes that are occurring around the world, particularly digitalization and the increased use and access of cell phones, will be significant. Valette mentioned as well that millennials will change, challenge and contribute to the existing work force. The Dominican businesswoman then explained how such transformations require new leadership styles, focused on preparation, planning persistence and persona, or the 4 P’s.

Following her remarks, the audience of more than 60 directed questions to the presenter and expressed their appreciation and the relevance of her work.

The event was part of the Dominican Get Togethers initiative and was aided by the local coordination of Dolores Ramírez, Wanda Carvajal and José Burgos.
